This is the story of our precious baby boy, who was diagnosed prenatally at
17 weeks with a fatal chromosome disorder called Trisomy 13. Although
Jonathan's condition is considered "not compatible with life", we desired to give
him every chance at life. Our prayer is that those who are touched by our story
are drawn to God, who is Life Himself. John 14:6

Snapshots

A few snapshots into the life of Jonathan Tomaschko:

Jonathan was born at 7:16 pm and passed away at 7:56 pm on October 8, 2009.

He weighed 4lb 3 oz.

Jonathan is beautiful. He has blonde hair. He has the hands of a basketball player.

Mommy is enamored by him, as any Mom would be.

Daddy wanted a picture with his two kids, his baby boy and baby girl.

Kate kissed Jonathan and said his name.

The photographer was there to capture these priceless moments of his life.

There were tears and laughter in the room.

His precious life though short captured our hearts and has affected many lives.

  8. Dear Lauren and Greg,

This passage came to mind as I was thanking God for giving you those 40 precious minutes with Jonathan:

26 And she said, "Oh, my Lord! As you live, my Lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the LORD. 27For this child I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him. 28Therefore I have lent him to the LORD. As long as he lives, he is lent to the LORD." I Samuel 1:26-28

    God is Good!

Keeping you in my prayers for the days and weeks to come,
    Julie Wilcox, GA

  12. Words are hard to come by as I am a stranger to you and your family. You have brought me closer to faith as I wandered far from God. I have been so touched by your incredible journey with Jonathan and I have shared with my family and coworkers, therefore sharing your extreme faith. God's worked through you and spread HIS word and for that I am grateful. I have no idea how you are feeling at this moment but can only tell you from reading the Bible that you will see your precious son again someday. He is well with the Lord and is waiting. Bless you all.

  17. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of a life lived for Christ's glory. Your story is filled with faith and love and the beauty of what God uses for His glory. All life is beautiful and should be celebrated because we are His children. I am in awe of your strength and courage to not only persevere, but make others aware by including them in the journey. Oh what a day it will be when we are reunited with not only those we have lost, but reunited with our Savior and here those beautiful words. Well done my good and faithful servant. 19. Laruen and Greg,
So many have already said it so much better than I, so I won't repeat their words. Please know that I will continue to lift your family up in prayer in the coming days, as your emotions, hormones, and the reality of these past few days, weeks, and months settle in. Your faith is strong, and it will bring you through this time. Jonathan's life will continue to make an eternal impact on countless lives.

  22. Lauren, you and Jonathan and Greg have taught us all so many lessons about life, about how it is possible to create meaning and hope out of whatever cards we're dealt. I don't ever expect to be the same after watching how your love of Jonathan, your faith and grace, and your courage inspired thousands of people - and even touched the lives of children on the other side of the planet! Know that we share your pain, but that you've also brought us a new understanding about how to be better people and lead better lives. We love ya!

  28. I join the voices of those you do not know, though we have a mutual friend. One day, when you are ready to read them, I hope and pray all these comments bring you comfort and that you hear the loving voice of Jesus Christ in them. I am a mom, and I have lost very dear loved ones--putting those 2 things together, I can only begin to imagine your heartache and grief. What glory you gave to God and what honor you showed your dear son by giving him LIFE instead of giving up on him. Jonathan is forever your son, forever a member of your family and now a dear saint in the family of God. Our Father in heaven gave you such beautiful courage to step forth and be so transparent about this journey--many of us strangers feel as if we know you, know the depth of your faith, and we wept, true tears, at the news of your loss. Christ has conquered death for all eternity--Praise the Lord!--but you and your family are still travelling a path of bitter pain. May God strengthen you and uphold you, may He bless and strengthen your marriage, may you, in time, glean comfort from the words of friends and strangers alike.
    With love in Christ Jesus,
    Sarah

  29. Thank you for sharing Jonathan's Journey with us. You really have no idea what an impact your son's life has had on people. Although way to short, Jonathan's life will probably be more of a witness of God's faithfullness and love than people that live 80 years. My heart breaks for you but I feel that your God will provide you with peace we can not fathom. He is good. As I spent time praying for you on your difficult journey God kept bringing a verse to me...I want to share with you. "I'll convert their weeping into laughter, lavishing comfort, invading their grief with joy." Jeremiah 31:13. Although Jonathan's life is physically over I believe his story will go out to bless countless more people. Thank you for sharing him with us.
